Hangzhou, China—DEEP Robotics, a leader in embodied AI applications, has officially unveiled the LYNX M20, the first mid-sized wheel-legged robot designed for industrial use in complex terrains and high-risk environments. With its lightweight build, adaptive dual-leg configurations, and robust endurance, the M20 sets a new standard for intelligent robotic platforms operating in extreme conditions.

The robot’s design merges the speed advantages of wheeled systems with the adaptability of legged locomotion, allowing it to handle environments that are traditionally inaccessible to either form. It autonomously adjusts its posture using advanced AI-driven motion control, enabling smooth navigation through rugged trails, wetlands, debris-filled ruins, and other demanding landscapes.

Capable of climbing steps up to 80 centimeters and moving through passages as narrow as 50 centimeters, the LYNX M20 is engineered for industrial versatility. Its dual operating modes—“front-elbow, rear-knee” for tight areas and “full-elbow” for stair climbing and vertical challenges—make it suitable for tunnels, pipelines, substation corridors, and other confined spaces. Weighing only 33 kilograms, the robot is portable while still offering exceptional strength, carrying an effective payload of 15 kilograms and maximum loads of up to 50 kilograms.

With a runtime of 2.5 hours under load (extendable to 3 hours without load) and hot-swappable batteries, the M20 ensures uninterrupted deployment. Rated IP66 for dust and water resistance, and functional across temperatures from -20°C to 55°C, it performs reliably in harsh conditions including heavy rain, snow, or complete darkness. Its 96-beam LiDAR system provides a wide 360° × 90° field of view, delivering precise mapping, obstacle avoidance, and autonomous navigation even at night.

LYNX M20’s versatility positions it for multiple sectors, from power grid inspections and firefighting to logistics, scientific research, and emergency response. It provides a safer and more efficient alternative to human operators in high-risk environments, reducing operational hazards while boosting overall productivity.

“LYNX M20 is designed as an empowering tool for industries,” said Mao Tang, Product Manager at DEEP Robotics. “We aim to give our partners a reliable, intelligent solution that enhances efficiency and safety in the most demanding operational scenarios.”
